I'm Sophie Paternotte, a stone sculptor. After a few years working with clay, I cut stones intuitively. The hardness of the stone varies from soft stones, such as soapstone, to really hard stones, such as marble. Sometimes the stone inspires me directly to create a subject; sometimes I let it guide me little by little.
