Paper sculptures

Artistic approach

My approach stems from a practice that is consistent with my values, where every technical choice has a human, ecological and artistic meaning.

Reducing environmental impact by developing a reuse approach. My basic materials are newspaper, earth and ashes from my wood fire.

Newspaper, a medium linked to ephemeral news, allows me to question the memory of what remains and what fades away.  I transform it into thread using a spinning wheel (an ancient tool used to spin wool).

The slow and repetitive act of spinning evokes for me a relationship with time, patience and silent transformation. The four-colour printed newspaper is completely twisted to become a thread or ‘paper colombin’.

I use it to give rhythm to the various sculptures and vases.

The vases evoke rope pottery but transposed into another material. The sculptures are the memory of passing time.

The symbolism: fragility, memory, temporality.
