Artistic approach

Emmanuel Dundic creates poetic installations in which space, objects, and their semiological significance are carefully interwoven, inviting the viewer to interact with delicate patterns of thought and layers of meaning in dialogue. His work always seems to contain an element of craftsmanship, in the sense of a close engagement with the object, even when his intervention is minimal or discreet, because he works as much with the aura of objects as with the fabric of their meaning or their material aspect. What undoubtedly distinguishes and further strengthens his work is that nothing in his pieces seems gratuitous or self-indulgent: each element is given a precise role to play, and the viewer can feel that they themselves have been considered, included, and invited into the heart of the artwork. While his work has been described as conceptual, Dundic belongs to this new generation of Belgian artists who successfully unite the conceptual heritage with the poetics of form to create a new and powerful artistic language.
