Place of Sophie Paternotte
The surfaces I use are mainly collected from leftover cuttings in DIY stores, as I like the idea of adapting to whatever comes my way. The finished appearance of my acrylic paintings is made up of multiple overlapping layers that begin in complete chaos, where I then open “windows” to find harmony through shapes and colours. The artwork is complete for me when I discover the connecting elements that allow me to feel the balance between the superimposed layers. The choice of framing is very important to me, as I believe it is an integral part of the artwork’s overall harmony.
