The choice of ceramics is central to my artistic approach. I use this medium as an interface enabling communication between the visible and the invisible, the conscious and the unconscious, the self and the Other. My initial scientific training has led me to question the workings of the brain for many years, and to explore altered states of consciousness through reading and various practices. These experiences nourish my work. This path allows me to "take hold" of matter, to let it instruct me. When I work with clay, I connect with creation myths and the first humans who fashioned figurines or vessels to accompany the living and the dead. In my hands, the clay deforms, takes shape, stretches, cracks, touches me as I touch it, and keeps the memory of our dialogue to open up new ones.
